Man don’t like that! Either & Also

Man & Jimin aggressively walk their sides of the invisible line that separates their territories. You might not see it, you might not understand it, but it’s there, and it’s as real and consequential as any other Island property boundary.

“Hey… hey, hey, hey, hey….. truce.”

Man stops fighting with Jimin over the oft-disputed boundary between their territories to agree with him about something for a change.

Man don’t like that either when you say there’s no evidence that the habitat restoration in Barnegat Light has been a success. Because Man, like Jimin, is that evidence.

Jimin and Man are actually some kind of step-brother. They were both hatched in the habitat restoration’s Plover Park to the same mom but to different dads in different years. And now they’re back in Barnegat Light as two critical male breeders.

Brothers from another father.

Man then extends the truce further to add that he also don’t like that when you ask why little birds need so much space. Rather than answering the question directly with the facts and reasons (of which there are many), he aggressively responds with another question: why do YOU need so much space?

Clearly, Man is wrong to discourage anyone from asking questions. We need more people asking questions of experts who can provide real answers, and fewer offering or settling for anecdotes and theories that don’t hold water.

Yet still, all the birds within earshot began to murmur and nod in enthusiastic agreement.

Man did have a point.

What do we want from this beach? That’s a great question.

Say something kind
