Breaking news: It’s fledge time over at the recently defloofed Princess Bride peregrine nest! I can’t believe how fast it is all happening. The young male Vizzini fledged first yesterday and, early this morning, was quickly followed by his sweet brother Fezzik, the Gentle Giant.
While this is surely an exciting moment, it was a little sad to check in this morning and find our badass lady, Lady Miss Issy, alone on the tower and looking lonely and out of sorts. Clearly, she’s feeling a little left out and missing her little brothers.
Female peregrine rule the species in every regard except one: the males fledge first. So for most peregrine females, this will the one time in their lives they feel a little out of control and left behind. But not to worry; her time will come very, very soon. (You can see very clearly in this clip how much bigger Lady Miss Issy, on the left, is, compared to her brother Fezzik on the right!)
While trying to find Fezzik’s first flight in a pile of footage, I stumbled upon this sweet, sweet scene from last night’s sunset. Enjoy this adorable clip in which Lady Miss Issy shows her affection and her big sister energy towards Fezzik.
Little did they know, this was the probably the sunset on their nestling phase too. They are big birds now, and have a huge responsibility to get out there and fill our world with falcons again.
